Man Crush Monday: Dre Hill

Not me telling y'all I would be posting a man crush Monday and then forgetting until Tuesday, bahaha.

Man Crush Monday: Dre Hill

Let's talk about Dre Hill.

Dre is an American poet whose art ranges from reflections on his journey of knowing himself to a commentary on the Black experience. It's hard to find the words to describe his poety, but what I can say is this: _it is an experience. _

His current projects:

_**(No) I AM (NOT) OK: **_This is a collection that focuses on the internal experience of being human. The deep places within us where we hide our aspirations, fears and secret feelings. It hits hard topics such as mental health, suicidal ideation, religion, race, gender, etc. It is a commentary on the war that is forever being waged in the mind.

_**Crossroads: **_Crossroads focuses on the places where the different parts of us intersect. It is a journey of self-discovery, identity, and sense of self. It is a reflective work, meant to help you chase down the person who pulls your strings from within.

_**Pushing the Pen: **_This is a guidebook for aspiring poets. If you have ever wanted to dive into the beautiful art of poetry, but don't know where to start, Pushing the Pen is probably a great pick for you! It is filled with prompts meant to draw you into somewhere deeper.

_**I love you means nothing: **_This is a collection that focuses on the way that our society, in its current shape, aims to reduce us into something that can fulfill our "one". It is a commentary on the way that "love" is used as currency in our world, buying us and costing us fulfillment; and asks hard questions about whether our understanding of intimacy can actually result in us being _known. _

_Dre is an incredible voice and I hope you all take time to familiarize yourself with his work. _
