"Girl, Fuck What They Talmbout, Write That Novel!" - Words of Affirmation from My Bestie
Hello, everyone. If you don’t know me, I’m E.A. Noble—a Queer, neurodivergent, disabled, Black writer who writes speculative fiction. My pronouns are she/her and they/them. Just like my intersectional identity, my stories reflect the communities who’ve stood beside me, loved me when I didn’t love myself, and chose to fight rather than bend.
Thank you for choosing When Blood Meets Earth, my debut novel, as your book of the month.
I thought long and hard about what I wanted to share with you as you read through this novel. I could talk about the music I wrote and had produced for the book—and the deep connection between music, my life, and Bellamy’s journey (she’s the main character). I could talk about the speculative fiction backbone of the novel—how it all started with one question: “What if racism didn’t exist? What would society look like? And what if that society had magical abilities?”
I could unpack so many layers, but I’ve decided to save that for the end-of-month interview—so go ahead and prep your questions.
What I truly want to say right now is:
Thank you.
Many of you started this journey with me back when I was just a beta and alpha reader, hyping up some of my favorite indie authors. You watched me draft this novel—fight with it, quit it, and pick it back up again. You witnessed the doubts:
“I’m not good enough.”
“Why should I write this?”
“No one’s going to read it.”
You dried my tears with your encouragement.
You lifted me up with your love.
You were there when I hit publish for the first time and became a real author.
And you’re still here! Sharing this book, hyping it up, reading Supersized Bubblegum, following me on Substack, and sending the kind of support that keeps an indie author going.
And if nobody ever told you, I will tell you, you matter!
Readers and writers are two halves of the same magic system. One tells the story, the other gives it a home. Without you, the story sits silent on the page. But when you show up? When you share, shout, recommend, review?
The story comes to life. That is the magic. That is our superpower.
You are more than a reader—you’re part of the revolution. You are proof that our voices, our characters, our worlds belong in this industry.
You and I? We’re locked in.
And I am grateful.
So, from the bottom of my writer’s heart, thank you.
And I truly hope you enjoy When Blood Meets Earth as your book of the month.
