As the year draws to a close, I am very focused on getting our community ready for all of the work we will need to get done in 2025, so here is a little bit of what I am focused on going into December!

Can I share my end of year goals with you?

**Consideration** means reviewing manuscripts and deciding which book we want to publish. At the end of this phase, we offer an author a book deal.

**Editorial** has several phases, which occur on a parallel track with early cover designs.

**Design** includes the cover process and interior layout, as well as format decisions like paper stocks and special treatments.

**Printing** means the final files are at the printer and we’re reviewing color proofs and early off copies hot off the press.

**Published** is when the book releases into the world! Go give it some love.

I am a Black man in a white-centered world and my reading tastes reflect that. I care about making space for Black and brown writers in an industry that has forgotten how badly it needs us. I am an author, book reviewer and passionate advocate for marginalized people and I love reading anything that pushes back against systemic barriers or challenges me to see the world through a wider lens. I can be a lot, so be prepared. But I promise it’ll be a good time!
