I have had a copy of Blood Debts sitting on my Piano since before the book Debuted...in April of 2023.

I finally read it a few weeks ago because a good friend--shout out to Jonathon--told me I was doing myself a disservice by not reading it. And as expected, he was absolutely right. I loved it.

Let me tell you a little bit about the book:

Blood Debts follows twins Cristina and Clement. They are the newest generation of a royal family of witches in modern day New Orleans. After their father dies and they discover evidence that someone--probably whoever was behind their father's death--is trying to use magic to kill their mother too, they must bring their splintered family back together in order to muster up the strength they need to identify their enemy and bring them to justice.

This book is filled with magic, mystery, betrayal, bravery...all of the things you need from a fantasy. But at it's core, it brings something to the table that most of it's contempories do not. It was written for US! Blood Debts DRIPS with Blackness. Black people (many of them queer) make up the heart and soul of this story and I am SO excited to finish reading the sequel _**Blood Justice, **_which I started this week.
