I love Black fantasy. You know I do. I think Black fantasy has the ability to widen our lens and help us to see the world clearer. But I didn't realize how desperately I needed a book that gave me BLACK BOY MAGIC.

In fact, I don't think I even noticed how few Black boys get to really exist in Fantasy. I know they are out there, but they are few and far between! But Blood at the Root DELIVERS!

This book gives us a Black boy who is powerful, fully fledged out, enthusiastic and ANGRY. He isn't forced to squish down his pain. He is hurt and he is angry about it and it was THERAPEUTIC FOR ME!!!

If you are as hungry as I am for some Black boy magic, this is probably gonna be a winner for you! I am currently reading it and it is LIFE!
