I didn't even notice it had been over a week since I posted until I saw the Sunday night recap emails come out and there wasn't one for me! lol! My bad, y'all! Let me share a little bit about what I've been up to!
As you know, earlier this month (July 10-12), Bindery hosted a pitchfest, where unagented authors were able to submit their finished manuscripts directly to Bindery imprints. Well... Left Unread received 34, along with a handful of agented manuscripts. So I have been hard at work, reading through manuscripts and trying to find the perfect book to release next spring!
Here's where we are:
I read through every pitch letter and the first chapter of every book and was able to narrow down my list from almost 40 books to 11 that I am potentially interested in. You can see that list HERE .
Now, I am in the middle of reading the first 50 pages of each of those manuscripts to narrow my list down further. If you want to hear about the first three books I have started reading, you can find those breakdowns HERE and HERE.
And I plan to have the first 50 pages of the other EIGHT books done by the end of this week so that I can move forward with a shortlist of books that I want to finish before I hopefully choose one to publish!
Thank you all for being here, this has been such an exciting process and I can't wait to update you further! In the meantime, I have been squeezing in regular reading where I can! I am currently reading When Blood Meets Earth by E.A. Noble, and it is SO GOOD so far! It follows a woman named Bellamy, who is in line to be the next ruler of her Kingdom. The only problem is, she hasn't manifested her magic. So when her nation goes to war, and political tension puts all "ungifted" people under scrutiny, she must find the key to unlocking her power so that she can save her kingdom.
I'm also working on a series of articles about publishing and marketing on a budget. The first of which can be found HERE .
I plan to make another post tomorrow with some book recs for the rest of summer. And don't forget, we are meeting with Natalia Hernandez TOMORROW NIGHT at 6:30 pm CST. Zoom info is pinned to the top of my Bindery!
