What if I told you that my publishing community is releasing a Haitan fantasy about a mermaid, a pirate and a navy captain who must work together to protect an ancient relic from an underwater cult and an ambitious navy general who seek to use it to raise a lost island and destroy the above world in the name of their forgotten God?

I have your attention? Great, because that's exactly what we're doing!

I came across Devil of the Deep a little over a year ago when one of my TikTok mutuals (tiktok.com/@amandadevoursbooks) reached out and told me that she had found a book I NEEDED to read. In fact, she was so insistent that, when I didn't immediately go buy it, she asked for my address and sent it to me.

Often, I don't read a book right away because, well, I get a lot of books sent to me. But I know Amanda well enough to know that if she went through all of that trouble, it's because she found a book I'll love. So I picked it up... and I fell in love.

Devil of the Deep is one of the best books I have ever read. I would honestly put it up there with Butler and Jemisin. It is beautiful in its artistry and is filled with a brilliance that I can hardly even comp to other stories that are out there. I am convinced that Falencia will go on to be one of the best artists of our generation and so, when I partnered with Bindery and was given the opportunity to throw real resources behind publishing, I knew I needed to approach Falencia and see if she would write me something. But the more we talked, the more I realized that this story deserved more attention than it was getting. And so I pitched a crazy idea... I approached Falencia and asked if she would be open to partnering together to put this book out bigger, badder and with more resources to take it as far as it can go.

Now here we are! Devil of the Deep will be coming out in Spring of 2026 and I could not be more excited! And more importantly, I believe this book deserves to be read on a wide scale. Which is where you come in. I need your help!
