Do you want some ARCS?

Want some ARCs from authors in our community? Head over to the discord and download them now!

Hey, I'll keep this short and sweet!

One of the major commitments we made as a community was to show up for, and champion, Black and brown indie authors. And I don't know about you, but I have not forgotten about that commitment. We obviously cannot publish every single book that comes to our attention, but I am still committed to championing the authors I can. Currently, there are two authors in our community that are preparing to launch debut novels, and they have invited our community to read them early and to help them push these projects out by leaving early reviews. Here is my ask:

  • If the books sound interesting to you, give them a read.

  • If you read them, leave an honest review on whatever tracking/review apps you use.

  • If you are able, click the attached book covers and pre-order a copy

  • Feel free to talk about either book on your socials. We want to help build buzz for these books.

Some information on the books!

The first is A Poor Man's Prose by Jahid Wilson. Here is the official synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Kaldur's heart has always beat in two places: on the page, and in the community he holds dear. Those precious to him keep him afloat in a world dedicated on seeing him drown. But when he accidentally unleashes soul magic that kills four boys, that love is tested. Kaldur's closest friends rise to the occasion and do what is necessary to protect him. When all is said and done, the bodies disposed of, they swear a blood promise to carry the weight of this secret like they do all others: together.

But together does not mean forever, and one year later Kaldur and his friends are still grieving the tragic car accident that turned their infamous quintet into a quartet. Worst of all, suspicion and scrutiny around the case of the missing boys has forced Kaldur's family to relocate to Georgia. Blaming himself, Kaldur attempts to use magic to resurrect their lost companion. His efforts backfire in the worst way, leading to a dangerous pact with a demon: write fifty magic-infused poems and he will undo his friend's death. As Kaldur and his friends strategize to complete the pact, he discovers his powers connect him to a mysterious woman in his dreams, one who is aware of the deaths he has caused and sends her monstrous emissary to hunt him down.

Even as he faces supernatural conflict in the waking world and dreaming one, Kaldur's new life in Georgia is filled with the messy vibrancy of being a teenager - forming bonds in his first writing community, meeting a woman who shows him it's not about who he was, but who he can be, and leaning on the friends who still stand by his side, hundreds of miles away.

Through laughter, healing, and a love with the deepest roots, Kaldur and his loved ones -both chosen and given -push back against the forces trying to unravel them, proving that even in the face of grief, there's a reason for love, hope, and joy.

And the second ARC is Whispers of Emberstone by M. Maldonado. The synopsis:

Deep within the treacherous highlands, where wyvern magic once shaped civilization, three enemy mining cities teeter on the brink of destruction. A century after the last wyvern's fall, the sentient peaks dividing these rivals have awakened, unleashing forces that haven't been seen since the age of legends.

ELVA, an engineer who despises magic, is drafted for a mission through monster-infested caves to attack her city's enemy. When her friend secretly enlists, she's forced to confront the very magic she loathes to save him.

After witnessing a brutal massacre, ASANTE guards a weapon that could save-or destroy-their land. But as ancient creatures stir and alliances shatter, she must decide if vengeance is worth the price of unleashing its power.

With his city facing volcanic destruction and their last Enchanter's life hanging by a thread, YOEN must decide whether to risk everything by forcing his enemy, Elva, to help or watch everything he loves turn to ash.

In an epic adventure of blood and stone magic, betrayal, and romance-the trio must decide whether to sacrifice everything to save their cities...or watch them burn.
